Frequesntly Asked Questions

  • WHY IS OXYGEN SO IMPORTANT?

  • Every day an average adult consumes 2kg of food, 1 liter of water, and almost 550 liters of oxygen. 90% of our daily energy comes from oxygen and the rest of the food and water. The human brain uses 25% of the oxygen we breathe alone. Oxygen is what contracts our muscles, repairs our cells, feeds our brains, and even calms our nerves, it is also our chief cleansing tool. Every day our body burns off some seven hundred billion old cells. These old cells are toxic and must be removed from our system if there is low oxygen in the body it struggles to do so and can lead to disease, infection, and tissue destruction.

  • WHAT SENSATIONS MIGHT I FEEL IN A HYPERBARIC CHAMBER?

  • When the chamber is pressurized, you may feel pressure changes in your ears, much like when you are on a plane or at a high elevation. You can relieve that feeling by yawning or swallowing. Other than ear pressure you should not experience any other unusual sensations.

  • HOW DOES BEING INSIDE A PRESSURISED CHAMBER GIVE US MORE OXYGEN?

  • The pressure forces oxygen into the plasma fluid and lymph allowing the oxygen to seep easily through any restricted areas caused byswelling, inflammation, or injury. Under normal circumstances, the red blood cells would block the blood vessel and the area would be starved of oxygen thus causing cell and tissue deterioration. The oxygen-rich plasma diffuses into the surrounding tissue ensuring it is delivered to where it is needed most.

  • WHAT IMPROVEMENTS CAN I EXPECT TO SEE?

  • This is one of those questions which has so many variables and answers depending on your lifestyle and what you are hoping to achieve. No two people are the same so invariably their results may differ. However, from experience, we know that hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves the quality of life for many and greatly complements other therapies and treatment regimes.

  • HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

  • Again there are many variables and we would suggest all the time you are seeing improvements in your health it is wise to continue treatment. As a guide, a clinical study of 1,730 subjects showed for acute injuries you would require around 15 sessions and for chronic injuries around 40. It is, however, better for you to judge based on your own results and improvement.

  • WHAT ABOUT OXYGEN TOXICITY?

  • Oxygen Toxicity is not a problem at pressures below 1.5 ATA. However, if you are sensitive to oxygen then the pressures can be adjusted to suit your own personal needs.
